Luxury vinyl plank

Waterproof floors that look like wood

Double N Services installs luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring in homes, rentals and businesses across Marietta and Metro Atlanta. It looks like wood, shrugs off water, kids and dogs, and is the floor we recommend most for kitchens and basements.

Modern luxury vinyl is hard to tell from real wood at standing height, and it handles the things that ruin wood floors: spilled water bowls, muddy paws, a leaking dishwasher. The catch is that it’s only as good as what’s under it: LVP shows every dip in the subfloor. Most of our work on an LVP job happens before the first plank goes down.

What’s included

  • Measured and priced in your home, for free, with product options that fit the room and the budget.
  • Old flooring removed: carpet, pad and tack strip up and hauled off.
  • Subfloor flattened where it needs it, so seams stay tight and planks don’t flex.
  • Clean transitions into carpet, tile and hardwood, plus trim.
  • Repairs later: we fix and maintain vinyl floors too, not just install them.

General guidance: your rooms, budget and household decide it. We’ll help at the estimate.

Why it lasts

The prep is most of the job

  1. Old floor out

Carpet, pad and tack strip are pulled up and hauled away.

  2. Subfloor flattened

Vinyl plank shows every dip underneath, so low and high spots are leveled first.

  3. Planks & transitions

A small expansion gap at the walls, tight seams, and clean edges where LVP meets carpet or tile.

Is luxury vinyl plank waterproof?

Most rigid-core luxury vinyl plank is waterproof on its surface and core, which is why it’s our go-to recommendation for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements.

Waterproof planks don’t make the room waterproof (water can still get under a floor at the edges or from a leak below), but a spill or a pet accident won’t swell the boards the way it can with wood or laminate.

How long does luxury vinyl plank last?

Good-quality luxury vinyl, installed on a flat, prepared subfloor, typically lasts many years. The thickness of its wear layer is the biggest factor.

We’ll explain the wear-layer options at your estimate so you can match the product to how hard the room gets used.

Can you install LVP over my existing floor?

Sometimes. LVP can often go over a flat, sound existing hard floor, but carpet always comes up first, and any dips or soft spots need fixing.

Subfloor flatness matters more with LVP than with most floors. Bumps telegraph through. We check it at the estimate and tell you what prep it needs.

LVP or hardwood: which is better?

For busy households, pets, kids and anywhere water is a risk, LVP usually wins. For resale in main living areas and the ability to refinish later, real hardwood still has the edge.

Plenty of homes do both: hardwood in the living areas, LVP in the kitchen, basement and laundry. See our hardwood page for the other side.

How long does a luxury vinyl installation take?

Many LVP jobs are done in one to two days, depending on square footage and subfloor prep.

Your written estimate includes the schedule.

Do you repair vinyl floors too?

Yes. We repair, clean and maintain vinyl floors as well as install them.

Individual damaged planks can often be replaced without redoing the room. Call (770) 845-4303 and describe the damage.
